Nurture the growth of others and you yourself will soar

The more you become aware of and respond to the needs of others, the richer your own life becomes. –  Mollie Marti

Humans are social animals. I know that the word “animal” when used to describe humans bothers some. We might be at the top of the food chain, but we are still part of it.

All the success we strive for and achieve in life is determined by comparison. We choose to use others as comparing posts to gauge if the path we lead is worth taking and to make course adjustments along the way. But compare with others is something we all inevitably do.

Some things are easier to compare, like wealth (money, cars, houses, jewels), achievements ( scholastic, professional, awards) but others are much harder to gauge.

Social standing, respect, community acknowledgments and admiration, and dare I say it, love. The love of our family and the love of our significant other.

And humans respond instinctively to these factors. There is only so much you can achieve with money. For the right price a normal human being will do just enough. Just enough to think he deserves the money offered and just enough not to lose his job. Money only ever motivates most people when they sorely lack it, and that’s it.

Being offered an opportunity to improve over time is the thing most people desperately search for. A feeling of nurture, of commitment to mutual growth. If you can offer that to your people, they will offer 100% in return, plus loyalty and respect.

A great leader aligns his people’s goals with his company goals, and makes the accomplishment and success of both mutually dependent and seemingly indistinguishable.

Do so in your business and you will grow more in 1 year than most grow in a decade. You’ll be fine.
