Leaders are people who believe so passionately that they can seduce other people into sharing their dream. – Warren G. Bennis
Success is not a lone man’s game. As much as people dream about getting full credit for making that one in a million success choice, or even better, those string of successful decisions that might just put them over the top, it never comes down to just one person.
It takes the common effort of more than just one person to make it big. And because it takes more than one, it is very much important to be able to share in the dream.
“Teamwork makes the dream work”. You probably heard that one before, but just like any dream, it means nothing if the dreamers don’t believe in it.
The makings of a leader, besides his authority, respect and vision, is the innate or learned ability to inspire or “seduce” others into sharing the dream.
People tend to work more when they believe they are working for themselves. This can mean either that they work for themselves or work for something they believe in. It is your job as a leader to make the people you’re working with “dream the dream” and believe in the grand plan. Do so and you’ll be fine.
